Fitbit Ionic smartwatches Recall

In March 2022, Fitbit LLC (f/k/a Fitbit recalled the Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, a serious kitchen recall reported by the CPSC. Affected owners are eligible for a refund. Here is what the hazard is and exactly what to do about it.

What this means for you

The lithium-ion battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.

What you should do

  1. 1 Stop using Fitbit Ionic smartwatches right away.
  2. 2 Set it aside where it won't be used by mistake.
  3. 3 Contact Fitbit LLC (f/k/a Fitbit to arrange your refund. See the official notice below for contact details.
  4. 4 Keep the product until your remedy is fully processed. You may need it.
Official remedy (Refund): Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Ionic smartwatches and contact Fitbit to receive pre-paid packaging to return the device. Upon receipt of the device, consumers will be issued a refund of $299. Fitbit will also provide participating consumers with a discount code for 40% off select Fitbit devices.
