What this means for you

The transceiver can switch modes unexpectedly when not locked or installed in the harness. When this occurs, it will prevent the transceiver from transmitting a signal and can make it difficult to locate a skier in an avalanche, which can result in severe bodily harm or death.

What you should do

  1. 1 Keep using PIEPS DSP Pro, DSP Pro Ice, and DSP Sport Avalanche Transceivers only as advised. See the remedy below.
  2. 2 Set it aside where it won't be used by mistake.
  3. 3 Contact Pieps GMBH to arrange your repair. See the official notice below for contact details.
  4. 4 Keep the product until your remedy is fully processed. You may need it.
Official remedy (Repair): Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled avalanche transceivers and contact Black Diamond for a free replacement hardcase carrying system and user guide to be used with the recalled transceivers.
